Yorkshire-based salad growers, W.S. Bentley, enlisted the expertise of Leeds web design agency, Pure, to design and develop a site that would help to put items such as salad cress and pea shoots back on the consumer radar. As one of the main suppliers of salad cress to the majority of UK supermarkets, it was a fantastic opportunity for the team.

To pinpoint a brand that would appeal to the consumer, Pure Agency’s team of creatives got their heads together and came up with a new visual identity – B Sow Healthy – incorporating the B within the company’s name, the health benefits of the products and the action of sowing seeds.

WordPress website design

The Solution.

Armed with the new brand it was time to get on with the creative. Pure Agency’s graphic design and web teams worked together to develop designs for the site along with the functionality for a blog-style platform built in WordPress, where foodies and health-conscious consumers could visit to find recipe inspiration and more information on the salad products that W.S. Bentley grows. The look and feel of the site was designed to be simple, clean and bright, reflecting the simplicity of the recipes and the fresh ingredients used throughout the dishes profiled.

The site map included a dedicated recipes section, populated with stunning photography some of which was shot by Pure Agency’s photography department, step-by-step videos and Behind the Seed, the company blog. The explore more tab offered insights on health benefits, the products W.S. Bentley grow and helpful FAQs. The visitor was then guided through meet the grower and education tabs, complete with team photographs and information for schools on how to grow salad cress and simple instructions for children to create their very own punnet labels.
